3280 Versailles Road - Youth Sports Complex

A proposed youth sports complex on 134 city-owned acres between New Circle, Versailles, and Parkers Mill Roads is back in the news. According to the Transportation Cabinet, the project would require widening Parkers Mill Road, due to the increased traffic flow. The site is still under consideration by the project planning committee.

194 North Limestone - Sayre School

Sayre School

 

Sayre School is set to break ground on a new classroom building in a ceremony on April 13. The new building will feature a cutting edge laboratory and rooftop garden. The current plan is to replace the Lower School building facing Pleasant Avenue. Doing so will allow the school, a downtown fixture since the 1850s, to remain within its current boundaries. The new facility is slated for completion by August of 2018.

The Summit at Fritz Farm - J. Alexanders

Alexander's is now open to the public, becoming one of the first businesses to launch at The Summit, a high profile commercial development at the intersection of Man O' War Blvd. and Nicholasville Rd. Featuring upscale American cuisine, the restaurant offers patrons a menu that is 95% made from scratch and emphasizes wood-fired preparation techniques.

339 Blackburn Avenue - Cowgill Partners

Lexington's Urban County Council recently approved a zone change near the intersection of Blackburn Avenue and Fourth Street, clearing the way for a new four-story apartment building. Previously a light industrial zone, the site is within walking distance to popular Jefferson St. corridor. The developer of the proposed property, Cowgill Partners, plans to offer 72 one and two-bedroom apartments

750 East New Circle Road - Eastland Lanes

Eastland Lanes, a Lexington staple since 1966, will be closing the doors of its New Circle Road location for the final time on June 1, 2017. Danny Collins, president of Collins Bowling Centers, released a statement last Sunday citing increased operating and maintenance costs as the reason behind the closure. Southland Lanes, Lexington's final bowling alley and another Collins Bowling Centers venue, will remain open.
