411 Southland – Marikka’s

Marikka’s will be reopening Monday, February 26th, bigger than ever!  The new Marikka’s will have 3 indoor volleyball courts, 3 outdoor volleyball courts and a large beer hall!

344 Romany Rd – The Romany Road IGA

The proposed Romany Road IGA is still a possibility, but has been taken over by Laurel Grocery Company.

496 High St – Chatham’s Bistro and Bar

Chatham’s Bistro and Bar is closing after three years of business. The restaurant, located at the corner of High and Woodland, was the site of the original Ramsey’s.

344 Romany Rd – Market at Romany Rd

The Romany Road Kroger has been demolished to make way for a new IGA market expected to open in late spring 2018. The market will focus on a large selection of fresh produce and meat, with an emphasis on quick deli service.  The developers our currently in the design phase, but no word on what is causing the delay.

PVA Inspections and Reassessments

The PVA staff visits and inspects one-fourth of approximately 300 distinct residential neighborhoods each year. We conduct these inspections as part of our quadrennial reassessment plan as required and approved by the Kentucky Department of Revenue. While inspecting neighborhoods, we review the characteristics and condition of properties and their improvements, look for changes since the previous inspection and update the photographs we post to FayettePVA.com.

Imani Baptist

STEAM Academy to get permanent home at the property formerly occupied by Imani Baptist, with a temporary stop at the former BCTC property on Cooper.  What will become of the old Johnson Elementary is not known.  Could it be used for affordable housing?

266 East Short Street – First African Baptist Church

The First African Baptist Church building at 266 East Short Street has a new owner and will be revitalized. It was home to the first African American Baptist congregation in Kentucky. Central Christian Church’s daycare, which currently occupies the building, will move across the street in coming months to allow for renovations.

100 Midland Ave – Herald Leader Building

The Lexington Herald-Leader has reached an agreement with CRM Development for the sale of their building at 100 Midland Avenue for an undisclosed price. CRM plans to redevelop the three acre parcel.

CentrePointe Progress

Lexington developers Phil and Lee Greer of The Greer Companies have committed a significant capital investment toward completing the project. The three story 700-space underground parking garage phase of the downtown development rapidly nears completion, a building permit for the office building has now been issued and another for the hotel appears imminent. 

Vacant Lots

A recent Herald-Leader article regarding the building of new homes in Scott County estimated the number of residential building lots available for development in Georgetown and Scott County at approximately 1,100. A search of PVA records has identified 1,637 residential & exempt parcels of less than one acre in Lexington that have no improvements (vacant) as of January 1, 2017. It is unknown whether the properties are actually available for sale or if they are suitable for development per LFUCG zoning, ordinances and other possible limitations. 

760 Winchester Road – Spalding’s Bakery

Tom Eblen chronicles Lexington’s iconic donut – Spalding’s, now in their new location on Winchester Road for 12 years. Its front facade pays homage to their prior location of 70+ years at North Limestone and Sixth Street. The building was masterfully restored by Chad Needham in 2010-11 and is currently home to Arcadium Bar.

1250 S Broadway – Logan’s Roadhouse

Another iconic Lexington restaurant, Logan’s Roadhouse, has closed. The original location on South Broadway closed its doors permanently on Sunday, August 20.
